FULTON, MO — LCU Volleyball (2-16) struggled in a tough road outing on Tuesday night, falling in three short sets to the Lady Owls of William Woods University (14-7).

Tuesday's match was destined to be an uphill battle for the Red Lions, who lost two starters to injuries during the week prior. LCU's personnel issues, combined with WWU's strong front line, were problematic for the visiting team.

While the Red Lions jumped out to an early lead in set number one, their success did not last long. The Owls responded promptly, tying the game at 8-8 before tearing off on a 17-1 run to finish the set.

LCU began to adjust and improve with each set played, but the Red Lions could not recover after game one. WWU earned the sweep over Lincoln Christian.

For the Red Lions, Jordan Price (SR/Fulton, IL) and Tracey Balagna (SO/Havana, IL) led the team in kills, totalling five and four respectively.

Mikayla Fultz (SR/Mattoon, IL) gave a solid defensive effort, finishing with 12 digs.

LCU Volleyball will enjoy a short break before they travel to Mt. Pleasant, IA for the CAC Invitational on October 8 and 9.
